Vanishing Act
Richard Greenberg
Annie, Bobby, Virgil, Clifford and Rosemary all need to get across the river, but Captain Ha Ha, the ferryboat captain, is sound asleep in her cave beneath the river bank.
They try one whimsical scheme after another without any success.
And just when all hope seems to float downstream, they finally succeed with a little help from a mystical source.
It seems Mary Ryan, Bobby's great-great grandmother, has been visiting him in his dreams every time he sleeps under Anne's family history quilt.
So it is with her advice and support that this band of merrymakers persevere.
The Captain awakens, and they all triumphantly float away ...This unusual little play dovetails importance of family, problem solving, and having fun -- a lovely perspective on life.
Full of slapstick comedy, big laughter, and poetic moments.
Waiting For Captain Ha Ha is a American comedy play written by Arupa Chiarini and published by Samuel French (1997).
