Synopsis

A Manhattan socialite who drinks a little and a plumber from New Jersey who sculpts a little - each jilted on their wedding days - save each other from suicide, and turn to each other for solace.

They fall madly in love, marry and vow to make their marriage work as no other ever has!

Aware of the vast differences in their backgrounds, they bend over backwards trying to be what they think the other wants them to be.

He exchanges his plumber's tools for a sculptor's chisel and steps out of his overalls into velvet smoking jackets, attempted upper class accents and high society.

She replaces her designer originals with housedresses and a brief case, becoming the not-so-happy housewife as well as his agent.

Tensions mount and sparks fly as good intensions backfire, turning love into hate, They square off at each other in a series of cat and mouse antics, climaxing in a hilarious attempt to "do each other in."

They recover and divorce, meet again by chance - and realize that the two who fell in love at the beginning are still in love, and that in trying to change themselves into something neither of them really was, they had lost not only themselves, but each other as well.

They kiss and make up, agreeing to start over again as "themselves."
