Synopsis

Charlotte Pelham is a city girl who has inherited a ranch from her late uncle.

With her sidekick Lil Bower, Charlotte decides to go into the dude ranch business; but, operating on a shoestring, they find it rough.

Then into Charlotte's life comes Freddy Buck, an impecunious master of ceremonies, who talks her into hiring him as a cowboy, a job he has no qualification for.

The dudes start arriving, including an heiress; a couple of "tired" business men who carry sixty five thousand dollars in a shoe box; and a Hollywood glamour girl.

There are also the Indian characters, Joe Chuckwagon, his wife and Princess One Blossom.

All sorts of skulduggery takes place until finally Freddy Buck emerges as the savior of the ranch - to everyone's amazement - and wins Charlotte's heart to boot.

Characters

Character
CHARLOTTE PELHAM

Owner of the Bar-B-Q, twenty two years old, attractive, wholesome, with a great deal of charm. Optimistic, full of ideas and generous.

LIL BOWER (Charlotte's best friend)

Charlotte's best friend, twenty-two years old, plainer than Charlotte. Intensely practical with a biting, sardonic sense of humor.

FREDDY BUCK

A very funny fellow of twenty-five, nice-looking with a lot of charm. His vanity and braggadocio are only one the outside, and underneath he is sincere and wholesome. Good sense of comedic timing.

JOE CHUCKWAGON

A young man of twenty-five.

PRINCESS ONE BLOSSOM

His wife, who is twenty-five. Large, stout and sloppy looking. Her giggle is high pitched and very bashful.

ELMIRA

A wealthy tourist of twenty-five. A passably attractive blonde and dresses in high style. Her manner is "blasé" and artificial.

WAXY

A tired businessman of twenty five, very short with a wizened face. Quick-moving with a hard and cynical manner.

SLUG

Another tired businessman, also twenty-five, large and powerful looking, but slow-moving and moronic. Speaks with a Brooklyn accent.

SUE CASTLE

An incognito celebrity of twenty-two, typical Hollywood glamour girl. Overdressed and over-made-up. Her manner is gushing and insincere.
