Oedipus, the good and successful King of Thebes, is married to Jocasta.
They have four children including their daughter, Antigone.
A plague strikes, and to cleanse the city the Oracle says they must find the murderer of old King Laius.
The stunned Oedipus is told, "You are the murderer you seek," and then the rest of the truth he never knew begins to emerge and Oedipus, blinding himself, is led into exile by Antigone.
