The Write Stuff
by Dan Nukala

Highlights
Synopsis
Tom's entire life depends on passing his spelling test.
His father is pressuring him, his mother is spelling every word she says, and his teacher uses bizarre sentences to confuse her students.
So Tom comes up with a plan - don't listen to the sentences!
Instead, he thinks up stories to go with the words and, ingeniously, the stories are played out by the entire class.
The problem is that his colorful stories are based on wrong meanings for the words!
When the word is "prints," he thinks of the Prince of Paree, looking for a bride, or when the word is "sell," he thinks of being trapped in a cell, playing spin the bottle.
There are as many stories as there are words!
Will the youngster make his Papa (who failed Miss Komodo's class) proud or will he continue the family tradition of lousy spellers?
