Glitz!: The Little Miss Christmas Pageant Musical
Bert Bernardi
It’s Christmas, and Cheryl, the overworked HR Director, has one last desperate plan to save Regalia Uniforms from corporate extinction: rally the employees (a.k.a. your audience) to design an ugly sweater so outrageous it charms even a German CEO with a resting Grinch face.
The result?
A laugh-out-loud, interactive holiday tradition where everyone gets to join the fun.
Sing along, dance along, and compete in over-the-top sweater shenanigans at the office holiday party you ACTUALLY want to attend.
The Ugly Xmas Sweater Musical celebrates creativity and the magic of working together when the stakes are high.
Prepare to laugh, sing and wear your finest ugly sweaters… because saving Christmas never looked so tacky – or like so much fun!
"Hysterically funny… blending the comedy of The Office with the competitive spirit of Project Runway… includes tons of your favorite Christmas songs, and you can absolutely sing along!"
— Houston Family Magazine
"Rest assured, the musical is more than a fashion parade of ugly sweaters."
— Houston Press
"A great vehicle to have some fun… a sure bet for a grand time for all!"
— The Howard

CHERYL Mezzo, G below middle C to E. (40s-50s) – Cheryl, our plucky heroine, is the HR Director at Regalia Uniform Company. A corporate problem solver, she hides a secret creative past she’s afraid to revisit. When faced with total company liquidation, during her favorite time of year, she takes charge with a can-do-Mrs. Claus-cookie-baking attitude. Cheryl is endlessly positive and craft store creative. Must have strong improv skills and comfort with audience participation. Vocal range: Mezzo, G below middle C to E.
DOUG/NILES Tenor, Low A to E above middle C. (early 30s) – Doug is the VP of Regalia and a total HR nightmare. Niles is the executive assistant to the owner of Regalia but he dreams of being a full time content creator. He has a great eye for style and knows the culture, but is stuck working for this mundane uniform company. Sarcastic and quippy, he actually loves his co-workers and is willing to go along with any plan Cheryl creates. Must have strong improv skills and comfort with audience participation. Vocal range: Tenor, Low A to E above middle C.
CHARLIE Baritone, Low A to E above middle C. (50s-60s) – Charlie has been with the company since time began and is somehow in charge of technology. Dry, witty and always armed with a zinger. Despite the barbs, he wants Cheryl’s ugly Xmas sweater plan to succeed. Must have strong improv skills and comfort with audience participation. Vocal Range: Baritone, Low A to E above middle C.
MISTY/ KELLI (Cheryl's daughter) Mezzo, G# below middle C to B. (early 20s) – Misty is Regalia’s design intern - an overachieving, Tracy Flick type. Kelli is Cheryl's daughter and a stereotypical GenZ – chronically online, a little clueless, and an absolute doll. She jumps in fully to help her mom save the company and finds her purpose along the way. Must have strong improv skills and comfort with audience participation. Vocal range: Mezzo, G# below middle C to B.
OLGA Mezzo, Ab below middle C to C. (mid 30s-early 50s) – The powerful, glamorous CEO, CFO, COO and all-around mega girl boss of Z-Corp. She has no interest in the employees of Regalia unless they can make her money. Her accent is vaguely German, her demeanor is demonstrative, and her style is divine. Think Hannah Waddingham meets Heidi Klum. Must have strong improv skills and comfort with audience participation. Vocal Range: Mezzo, Ab below middle C to C.
HARVEY (pre-tape) – The owner of Regalia Uniforms, he’s been going through a rough divorce. He sells the company out from under everyone and runs away to Tahiti with their holiday bonuses. Can be played by the actor playing Charlie or Niles or as a cameo from a local celebrity. Non-singing role.
