Synopsis

The story revolves around an old man who lives with his son and daughter-in-law and their two children.

The old man lives in their house a total stranger.

His only diversion is his garden.

Here he grows flowers and a beautiful tree that becomes his main object in life.

The complication arises when the daughter-in-law decides to add a new wing to the house.

In order to achieve this, the garden must be torn down.

She gives the old man the choice of either letting it be destroyed or going to a home for the aged.

He chooses the latter.

As he goes, the sound of the tree being destroyed is heard in the background.
