The day before a pitcher realizes his dream by starting in the World Series, a dying boy in a hospital asks him to do the impossible: strike out Babe Ruth.

The pitcher promises he will, but when this pivotal moment arrives, he learns that the Babe has promised to save the life of another dying boy by hitting a home run.
