Synopsis

Taking place in the white heat of Tangiers, this richly textured play deals with a man's desperate attempt to save his wife from death.

In order to free his wife from cancer, the frantic husband seeks out a strange singer, a Dr. Westermann, who may or may not possess diabolic healing powers.

The doctor is not at all pleased to have his privacy invaded by a stranger making impossible demands.

The doctor tells the man, "I have been a student of cancer for years.

The cells multiply and are beautiful in their multiplication.

But there is no hope in them.

Live without hope."

But the man argues, "I have found the one person in the world who can save her.

Once a year you stand upon your balcony to sing of the hopelessness and the futility of living, but every year you continue to sing."

This unusual and poetic play is one your audiences will talk about for many evenings to come.

Bare stage w/props.
