Sign Of The Times
Tim Firth
When Andrew brings Kate Martin, his newest girlfriend, to his flat, he is dismayed to find that her life is ruled by the Stars, which apparently warn her off men born in his month.
Equally Doreen, a frumpy girl who lives in the flat above, considers that she and Andy are astrologically suited.
When The Times newspaper, for which Andy works, suddenly decides to run a Stars Forecast feature and Andy is appointed to run it, he sees the chance to manipulate things so as to get a hold of Kate and get rid of Doreen.
He is alarmed to find, however, that - skeptic though he is - he appears to possess psychic gifts, and a series of culminating complications arise which almost land the reluctant forecaster in Africa as Minister for the Future for a developing country.
A little mild blackmail and an ancient ritual, however, finally sort things out.
