Synopsis

The hearts and minds of new immigrants and refugees as they reinvent their lives in American are revealed in five scenes that are set over five weeks in an English as a Second Language class.

Each day in the classroom is linked by a brief interlude where the teacher begins the process of making peace with her own family.

From tentative introductions to a victory celebration, students and teacher share stories, secrets, conflicts and even a little vodka.
