For Love or Money
F Hugh Herbert
Not Herbert was one of the most successful Broadway hits.
A most ingeniously mysterious crook comedy, having to do with a young man who, apparently, is afraid of his own shadow.
But in a very dramatic fashion the fact is imparted to the audience that this shrinking violet is none other than a famous thief who has been terrorizing rich New Yorkers.
The boy is willing to forsake his criminal career, but discovers that the attractive young fellow who has been making desperate love to his sister is also a famous crook.
To bring about the fall of this thief, the boy finds it necessary to "pull" another job, with consequences that are both exciting and amusing.
Not Herbert is a comedy play written by Howard Irving Young and published by Samuel French .
