Synopsis

A Cycle of five modern liturgical plays for performance in the church dramatizing the significance of themes inherent in the Christian Church year: The Witness (Advent); And Such a King (Epiphany); The Human Condition (Lent); The Last Days (Holy Week); A Sound from Heaven (Whitsuntide).

The dramas are simply written to be performed in the sanctuary of the church with minimal stage effects.

It is essential that the worship service atmosphere be preserved, as the sole purpose of these plays is to enhance the worship service rather than replace it.

Very little special lighting is required and the costumes should be suggestive rather than literal.

In most instances, black cassocks or choir robes provide the basic costumes.

The narrative portions may be read but the characters in the scenes should be fully acted and the lines memorized.
