Synopsis

THE STORY: The action begins during the Revolutionary War, as a young man is summoned from the arms of his bride and sent off to fight for his new country.

But then, as the play shades into a brilliant and chilling fantasy, one war subtly merges into another-the Civil War, World Wars I and II, and finally Vietnam-as the soldier tires and ages, his youth slipping away, his bride still waiting patiently for his return.

In the end the play is not just about war-it is war.

And the soldier's final, dazed plea, Peace now?

Now?

will find the audience and actors as one in this last shocked, ironic moment.

Press Reviews

"An eloquent and strikingly conceived plea against war and man's inhumanity to man. “…[She is] a dramatist of stature the theatre must nurture, for playwrights of power and vision are in short supply."
