Aesop, Come Back!
Joshua Mikel
Aesop A. Aesop, CIX (the 109th), a modern descendant of the famous fabulist, holds an open audition for the first new Aesop's fable in 2500 years.
Improvisation, cold readings, and new fable ideas are on the agenda.
All the favorite and familiar characters show up (plus a few newcomers), hoping to be cast in legendary director Cecily B. Speilberg's newest blockbuster.
Skulking beneath this historic project is the Wolf's diabolical plan to revenge himself against the Fox, Lion, and Dog, who generally got the better of him in the original fables.
Character
---
SHEEP naive and literal
MOUSE meek and hardworking
RAVEN a rascal and a scavenger, Woolf's stooge who constantly bickrs with Serpent for positioning
SERPENT sneaky and not to be trusted, Wolf's Lieutenant, with Raven, the constant bickering, posing, posturing and positioning lead to many slapstick opportunities
CECILY B. SPIELBERG the director of the production. Cecily has numerous credits and awards with motion pictures, television, and the theater. She's admired by most of the industry.
VANESSA THIGBY Cecily's production assistant, very efficient and focused
ROLAND INFERNO personal assistant to Aesop A. Aesop, CIX. He can be surly, mean, sarcastic, and rude.
WOLF cunning and dangerous, how far will he go to eliminate his competition and firmly establish himself as the ultimate Aesop's Fable character?
CAT deceitful and skilled
HARE fast but not bright
DONKEY stupid and stubborn
DOG loyal and sleepy
FROG arrogant and a joker
TORTOISE slow and thorough
CHAMELEON eager to please and confident, cocky, brash, and not nearly as amusing as he believes he is
FOX sly and intelligent
LION powerful and compassionate
