A dominant figure of Quebec’s theatre scene since the end of the 1960s, Michel Tremblay has created works of an impressive quantity and quality; as a dramatist, novelist, translator, adapter, and screenwriter: twenty-six plays, three musicals, twelve novels, one collection of tales, four collections of short stories, seven screenplays, twenty-three translations or adaptations of foreign plays, one libretto, and the lyrics for some twelve songs. All of them published. Several of Tremblay’s plays have been praised in Canada, in the United States, and just about everywhere in Europe. His name appears in the Larousse and Robert dictionaries, in the Who’s Who Encyclopedia, and in the Dictionary of International Biography.
