Jez Butterworth's first play, MOJO (1995), won the George Devine Award, the Olivier Award for Best Comedy, and the Writer's Guild, Critic's Circle, and "Evening Standard" Awards for Most Promising Playwright. His second play, THE NIGHT HERON, opened at the Royal Court in April 2002. In 1996 he directed a film adaptation of MOJO starring Ian Hart and Harold Pinter. His second feature, "Birthday Girl," was released in June 2002 and starred Nicole Kidman and Ben Chaplin.
