Samuel Guy Endore was born on July 4, 1900. Endore wrote many novels and screenplays for action films and thrillers and is perhaps best known for his novel “The Werewolf of Paris.” For the theatre Endore wrote the play CALL ME SHAKESPEARE, published by Dramatists Play Service, Inc. In 1945 he was nominated for a screenwriting Oscar for “The Story of G.I. Joe.” Endore was investigated by the House Un-American Activities Committee during its search for Communist infiltration of the film industry and summarily blacklisted; he subsequently sold his screenplays under the pseudonym Harry Relis. Samuel Guy Endore died on January 12, 1970.
