GOTTFRIED REINHARDT was an Austrian director and producer, the son of Max Reinhardt. After moving to the United States, he became the assistant director of Ernst Lubitsch and later a production assistant at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, lending his talents to the 1938 film The Great Waltz. Reinhardt served in the US Army during World War II as a naturalized American. He made his directorial debut with 1952’s Invitation. Other films include The Red Badge of Courage, Before Sundown, Jedermann and Eleven Years and One Day.
