Leonard Barrie "Barry" Corbin was born on Oct. 16, 1940, in Lamesa, Texas. Corbin is a U.S.-based character actor with over 100 credits in film and television and several in computer gaming. He is the son of Kilmer Blaine Corbin, a judge and Texas State Senator (1948-1956), and Alma Scott Corbin, a school teacher. A former United States Marine, Corbin studied theater at Texas Tech. Corbin is best known for his screen work in such television series as “Dallas,” “Lonesome Dove,” “Northern Exposure,” and “One Tree Hill,” and in such films as “Urban Cowboy,” “War Games,” “Stir Crazy,” and “Nothing in Common.” Corbin got bit by the performance bug at a young age, when he organized neighborhood plays. Later he was enthralled by Westerns. During his theatre studies at Texas Tech he performed everything from the great masters to contemporary playwrights. After two years in the Marines, Corbin began searching for acting work at age twenty-one, eventually moved to New York in 1964, and during the next decade starred on Broadway, Off-Broadway, and in regional and dinner theaters. During this time on the stage Corbin wrote his only play, THROCKMORTON, TX. 76083, published by Dramatists Play Service, Inc.
