About this show

A slick, raw and provocative black comedy set in the Soho clubland of the 1950s. The landmark debut play from the author of Jerusalem. Welcome to Soho. Rock ’n’ roll is in the air and Silver Johnny is the latest young sensation at the Atlantic Club. When the club’s owner is murdered, those left behind are drawn into a brutal fight for control. As rivalries sharpen and loyalties fracture, the glamour of the rock ’n’ roll scene begins to crack. First performed at the Royal Court in 1995, Mojo became a defining play of a new, uncompromising era in British theatre. Visceral and unafraid to shock, Butterworth’s play combines unflinching drama and black comedy with dialogue that crackles with energy, taking audiences deep into Soho’s criminal underworld of ruthless ambition and rivalry. Mojo won the Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, as well as earning Butterworth the George Devine Award and Evening Standard Theatre Award for Most Promising Playwright. It established Butterworth as one of the most distinctive voices in British theatre, now known for Jerusalem, The Ferryman and The Hills of California.

About Park Theatre

The Park Theatre is one of London’s most dynamic Off-West End venues, known for bold programming, fresh writing, and a strong community spirit. Since opening in 2013, it has become a vital creative hub in Finsbury Park, presenting a mix of new plays, revivals, and international work across its two intimate spaces.

With a strong focus on accessibility, affordability, and artistic excellence, Park Theatre champions emerging talent and underrepresented voices — earning a reputation as one of London’s most important smaller theatres.

The history of the Park Theatre

Opened in 2013, Park Theatre was founded by artistic director Jez Bond and actor Andy Nyman. Built from a converted office block just moments from Finsbury Park Station, the venue was developed with a clear mission: to bring high-quality theatre to the local community while supporting new voices in the industry.

With support from high-profile patrons including Ian McKellen and Alan Rickman, Park Theatre quickly rose to prominence. It now houses two performance spaces — Park200, a 200-seat main theatre, and Park90, a flexible studio space — and has premiered numerous acclaimed productions, many of which have transferred to the West End and beyond.
