Head of Automation 

Sonia Friedman Productions is seeking applications for an experienced, Head of Automation for a new production of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, directed by Marianne Elliott.

Your duties and responsibilities will be those normally expected of an head of automation on a first-class West End production. 

The role will play an active part in the operation of revolve, scissor lifts and automated flying. Previous experience as an Head of Automation on a busy show is essential. Experience working with an Absolute Motion Control system is preferable. Skills required include attention to detail, the ability to stay calm under pressure in a busy live production environment and good all-round technical skills.

Start Date:August 2026

Job Location:@Soho Place Theatre, West End London 

Contract Type:Fixed term until December 2026 

Salary: Weekly rate as per SOLT/BECTU Agreement. 

Weekly Hours:6 day working weeks (Monday to Saturday); 8 shows per week plus maintenance and understudy calls.
