The Production

The first-ever theatre adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ internationally acclaimed book and Lionsgate’s motion-picture, The Hunger Games: On Stage opened at Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre in Autumn 2025, adapted by multi award-winning playwright Conor McPherson and directed by Matthew Dunster.

Job Description

As ASM (Book Cover), you will work closely with the Stage Management team during performances and rehearsals, covering all ASM duties and stepping into the DSM role when required. You will support the Stage Management team to ensure all backstage operations run smoothly and efficiently. This role requires strong organisational skills, excellent communication, and a hands-on approach.

Key Responsibilities

● Assist in the preparation and running of rehearsals

● Manage and maintain props, scenic elements, and backstage setups

● Ensure clear communication between the stage management, creative, and technical teams

● Support the DSM and SM with daily reports, schedules, and cue tracking

● Oversee backstage traffic and manage scene changes during performances

● Assist with technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and show calls

● Learn and cover the Book, calling the show when required

● To undertake any and all other responsibilities required of an ASM (Book Cover)

Essential Criteria

● Book Cover experience

● Proven experience as an ASM on large-scale professional productions

● Excellent prop management and backstage coordination skills

● Strong organisational and time-management abilities

● A collaborative team player with great interpersonal skills

● Calm and resourceful under pressure

Desirable Criteria

● Confident understanding of cue calling and prompt book maintenance

● Prior work with Automation and/or Performer flying

● Excellent organisational and communication skills

● Adaptable, with a strong team mindset

● Strong attention to detail and a calm, reliable presence

● Familiarity with traditional proscenium stage operations
