SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Rec Room Arts 2026-27 Season (see breakdown).

Actors of any age, any gender, and any demographic are encouraged to audition.


PREPARATION

Show-specific sides will be available at the audition. You may prepare one or two of the provided sides in advance and will perform one at your audition. For Hedwig (not required): Please prepare 32 bars of a song of your choice from Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Printed sides and a reader will be provided at the audition. If you would like to review the sides in advance, visit the Employment tab on our website.

Street parking is metered until 6PM. We’re located right by Daikin stadium, when there’s an Astros game, street parking is difficult to find. Please arrive early if there is a game that day.

SEEKING:

MOZART (CAST): A once-in-a-generation musical genius: impulsive, irreverent, hilarious, and utterly incapable of conforming to the expectations of polite society. 20s–30s.

SALIERI (CAST): The Emperor's celebrated court composer, whose admiration for Mozart's divine talent curdles into obsession, envy, and a war against God Himself. Male, 50s–70s.

CONSTANZE (CAST): Mozart's devoted, practical wife who fights to keep their family afloat while believing fiercely in her husband's genius. Female, 20s–30s.

KATHERINA: Vienna's celebrated soprano: confident, ambitious, and keenly aware of the influence talent and beauty can wield. Female, 20s–40s.

ENSEMBLE: Courtiers, patrons, servants, musicians, and citizens who bring the vibrant, image-conscious world of eighteenth-century Vienna to life. Any gender, any age.

MANIAC: Youthful rebellion incarnate - passionate, charming, volatile, and fun. A ragebaiting troll who loves to play a game and put on a show. Male or Non Binary, 20’s

INSPECTOR BERTOZZO: the lowest on the totem pole, brash and arrogant while also being slow and incompetent, desperately trying to not get in trouble. Male, 30’s-40’s

CAPTAIN PISSANI: the middle manager of the force, can be intimidated and coerced without much effort while being banal and sanctimonious. Desperately wants to be respected. 30’s-40’s, any gender.

SUPERINTENDENT BELLATI: the highest ranking on the force, loud and abrasive with an explosive temper, scrupulous about maintining order and protocol, but secretly loves to play a game. 40’s-60’s, any gender

JOURNALIST MARIA FELLETI: A grounded, sensible reformist who ideologically agrees with The Maniac, but still believes in existing institutions and their power to make meaningful change. A walking challenger to the police and foil to The Maniac. Female, 20’s-30’s.

CONSTABLES: newbie police officers who follow the orders of whoever wields the most power in the room. Mostly silent mime role, but needs strong physical comedy skills. 20’s-30’s, any gender.

FIONA: Grace’s Mother. Retired. Acts like it. Done hiding what she really feels.

ADAM: Fresh out of med school. Good person in bad circumstances. Respects authority.

KATRINA: Early to mid 20’s. Put upon but not overpowered by it. Trying to stop what’s coming.

PETER/RUFUS: Late 20’s fuckup, wouldn’t hurt a fly / Literally The Fucking Devil. Chill guy tho.
