Next Page Productions, the new Theatre for Young Audience company in residence at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts, announces auditions for its inaugural production of Pete the Cat!

Your favorite cool cat takes the stage in this fun-filled musical adaptation of the hit book series! When Pete the Cat is sent to live with the Biddle family, he helps young Jimmy Biddle discover the joy of friendship, creativity, and embracing life's adventures.

Seeking:
Non-AEA strong singer/actors of all genders, types, and ethnicities who are local to the Chicagoland area to perform and understudy the roles of:


PETE THE CAT - A super zen, rocking cat who lives in a VW Bus. He goes with the flow.

JIMMY BIDDLE - A very put-together second grader. He likes to overthink things.

OLIVE BIDDLE - Jimmy's rambunctious sister. In Pre-K. She just loves everyone and everything.

MOM - Jimmy's nervous mom. Secretly, a rock star.

DAD - Jimmy's nervous dad. Secretly, a rock star.


Doubling:

MOM: GRUMPY TOAD, MRS. CREECH, the MONA LISA.

DAD: GUS THE PLATYPUS, BARNABY (a student), a SHARK.

OLIVE: CAT-CATCHER, ELOISE (a student), ASTRONAUT.


Compensation:
Rehearsals & Tech: $200/stipend
Performance Rate: $50/performance


Time Commitment:

REHEARSALS: Monday-Friday, October 26–November 6 (10:00am-2:00pm)
TECH: Tuesday-Wednesday, November 10–11 (9:00am-5:00pm)

PERFORMANCES: Thursday, November 12–Friday, December 11, 2026 (select weekdays at 10:00am & 12:00pm and occasional Saturdays), at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts.


Anticipated 20 performances at the North Shore Center. Additional confirmed engagements include 3 performances at the Menker Theatre at Moraine Valley (January 2027) and 7 performances at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights (March 2027).

Please note: all rehearsals, tech, and performances require weekday daytime availability

Rehearsals and initial performances will take place at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts, 9501 Skokie Blvd. Skokie, IL 60077
