Breakdown

MKE MVP

SYNOPSIS: From the creator of the sold-out hit Dad’s Season Tickets, comes a World Premiere musical comedy that celebrates the unforgettable championship journey of the Milwaukee Bucks through the eyes of a close-knit group of lifelong fans. From the arrival of a franchise-changing MVP in 2013, to the final buzzer in the Summer of 2021, the glorious end of a 50-year wait reveals how one extraordinary season, one electrifying talent, and the exceptional people around us — can make a lasting impact on our lives. Joyful, funny and full of hometown pride, sports fans and theater fans won’t want to miss this musical that captures the soul of our city when its team took the world stage.

SEEKING:

DARIUS: Black Male, late teens. Tenor/Baritenor. Young Bucks fan, Allie’s son, and the show’s Narrator. Bright, energetic, and dedicated. Doubles as Young Darius: Age 9-12

TERRY: Black Male, 50s-60s. Baritone. Longtime Bucks fan. Kind, funny, grandfatherly. After decades of being a loyal season ticket holder, he’s starting to become disillusioned by the current state of the NBA.

JANE: White Female, 50s-60s. Mezzo with belt. Diehard Bucks fan. Has a big heart and is very outgoing. Started attending Bucks games with her son. Now a grandmother, she famously offered Giannis a ride during his rookie season.

JEFF: Male, early-mid 30s, any ethnicity. Baritenor. The Numbers Guy. Obsessed with statistics, he is levelheaded and pragmatic when it comes to his love of his hometown team, but less experienced when it comes to love in his own life. Adorkable, very smart, kind.

ALLIE: Black Female, Late 20s-early 30s. A waitress and single mom to Darius. Warm and confident. After growing up in a basketball house, she does her best to avoid the game until her Giannis-obsessed son rekindles her interest. Vocal range: mezzo with belt.
