Actor/Writer/Ensemble Member

I’m Adina Taubman, the Artistic Director of Chrysalis Theatre Company. I founded the company in 2012, and over the years we have produced devised works, solo shows and theater festivals.

The company is dedicated to the development of new plays about important social issues that entertain and spark a dialogue, which hopefully leads to action. We strive to create theater that is a transformative experience for our audiences.

In the spring of 2025, we produced She Takes Flight, a devised ensemble piece that focused on the lives of middle aged women. We are turning our focus to the topic of “women and activism” for this next production.

We are looking for artists who have experience both as actors and writers - maybe devising your own work (via solo show) or as part of a larger ensemble piece. As a company, we want to highlight/celebrate the stories/voices of women who are 40+, and from a wide variety of backgrounds and communities.

Weekly writing sessions will be held on Thursday evenings, at a rehearsal studio in midtown Manhattan. The goal is that we will share our work at a staged reading in early 2027 (date TBD based on how the group feels).
