Pravin Wilkins is a playwright, poet and fiction writer based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania whose works typically deal with race and class struggle – and the many intersections between. He began writing plays during his time at the University of California, San Diego, as an undergraduate student of political science and literature; he continued his journey as a playwright by travelling to Pittsburgh in 2018 to pursue a graduate degree at Carnegie Mellon University. During the past few years, his work has been recognized by the UC San Diego Department of Theatre & Dance (whose faculty members honoured him at graduation with the Eric Bowling Award for his site-specific protest piece, #takebackgraffitihall) and the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center (which named Moreno as a 2020 finalist for the National Playwrights’ Conference).
