Joseph Dougherty received Drama Desk and Critics Outer Circle nominations for his play DIGBY, which was produced at the Manhattan Theatre Club. He wrote the libretto for the Tony-winning musical MY FAVORITE YEAR presented at Lincoln Center. An Emmy and Humanitas Prize winner for his work on the groundbreaking series “thirtysomething,” he has written several movies for HBO, including “Cast a Deadly Spell,” which was nominated for a Ray Bradbury Award by the Mystery Writers of America, and the remake of “Attack of the Fifty-Foot Woman,” starring Daryl Hannah and directed by Christopher Guest. He has contributed to several popular television series, including “Once and Again” and “Saving Grace,” starring Holly Hunter, on TNT. He's the author of the book “Comfort and Joi,” which chronicles one fan's "low-grade" obsession with B-movie bombshell Joi Lansing. The book is now available in paperback at amazon.com. In 2006 he launched “Handwritten Theatre: A Series of Brief Dramatic Works Originally Composed in a Small Black Notebook with a Fountain Pen,” downloadable drama for your iPod available at handwrittentheatre.blogspot.com or as a Podcast from the Apple iTunes Music Store. He also performs at Story Salon, Los Angeles' longest running storytelling venue.
