As well as being a writer, Jane Thornton is also a director and actor under the name of Jane Clifford. Jane trained at Bretton Hall College. After graduating she worked for fifteen months for the National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders (NACRO) as a drama supervisor. She lives in Hull in the North East of England with her husband, John Godber. The couple have been married since 1993. Their relationship got off to an unconventional start when John auditioned Jane for IMAGINE, a play about John Lennon which Godber was taking to the Edinburgh Festival, in the back of his car. Together Jane Thornton and John Godber wrote the play SHAKERS, published by Dramatists Play Service, Inc. They have two daughters, Martha and Elizabeth.
