Jahnna Beecham (playwright/lyricist) and composer Malcolm Hillgartner (composer/lyricist) have been commissioned to write musicals for Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Cleveland Playhouse, Hope Repertory Theatre, Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, Orlando Family Stage, First Stage Milwaukee, and most recently, Concord Theatricals. Their 11 musicals include: Chaps!, Dogpark: the Musical and Chaps: A Jingle Jangle Christmas, published by Concord. Holmes and Watson Save the Empire won an Ovation “Best Small Cast Musical” award in Vancouver, BC in 2013. Their musical adaptation of Irish storyteller Tomáseen Foley’s Parcel from America opened in Dublin with a sold-out run at the Smock Alley Theatre in May of 2022. Allile Kazan and the Magic Mansion, which includes 30 tricks and illusions designed by magician Steve Marshall, opened at Children’s Theatre of Charlotte in 2023 and will be produced at Orlando Family Stage in 2024.
