E. (Edouard) Martin was a French playwright best known for his comedies. He often wrote in collaboration, usually with Eugene Labiche, Albert Monnier, and Paul Siraudin. Popular titles include L’AFFAIR DE LA RUE DE LOURCINE, CHEZ UNE PETITE DAME, LES PETITS MAINS, LA POUDRE AUX YEUX (adapted into English as DUST IN YOUR EYES), LES 37 SOUS DE M. MONTAUDOIN, MOI, and LES TRUFFES, among many others. Martin also authored several books, including “Collégiens, étudiants et mercadets pour rire” (1853), “Sous un parapluie” (1855), “Madame Absalon” (1859), “Jeune de cœur” (1860), and “La Fleur des braves” (1863).
