Anna Ziegler is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter. Her plays and productions include Photograph 51 (Noël Coward Theatre, dir. Michael Grandage, starring Nicole Kidman; WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Play; Bloomsbury Modern Classics), Actually (Manhattan Theatre Club, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Geffen Playhouse, Trafalgar Studios; Ovation Award for Playwriting), The Wanderers (Roundabout Theatre Company, The Old Globe, Marylebone Theatre; San Diego Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Play), The Last Match (The Old Globe, Writers Theatre), Boy (Keen Company/Ensemble Studio Theatre, TimeLine Theatre), Dov and Ali (Theatre503) and A Delicate Ship (Playwrights Realm, Cincinnati Playhouse). Her recent play The Janeiad (The Old Globe, Alley Theatre) was a finalist for the 2025 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize and received a Steinberg/ATCA New Play Award citation. Her work has been produced in London’s West End and at major theatres across the U.S. and internationally. She holds commissions from The Shed and Manhattan Theatre Club as well as Brian and Dayna Lee. Her screenplay adaptation of Photograph 51 will be directed by Tom Hooper.
