Emmy Lane Potter's hilarious one-act play, All Downhill, is making its workshop debut as part of Emerging Artists Theatre's biannual Spark Theatre Festival on OCTOBER 10th 2026 at 7pm!
SYNOPSIS:

Wildlife photographer Martin and real estate agent Jules have a picture-perfect marriage except for one tiny problem: they hardly see each other. When Jules’ childhood best friend, Hollywood action star Rafe Reeves and his wealthy, sexy fiancee Claudia invite the pair to spend a weekend at their luxe Aspen ski chalet, they jump at a chance to rekindle their romance. But when Martin and Claudia see the chemistry between Rafe and Jules, a new picture of their relationships emerge, causing all four to take drastic measures for the sake of love, sex, and a happy ending in this comedic one-act.

Partially inspired by Rear Window (but with less murder and more laughs), All Downhill is a witty, comedic look at modern relationships–including our relationships to work and money–and all the things that push us over the edge of the mountain of our lives.

CHARACTERS:

All characters require physical comedy.

MARTIN (40), wild-life photographer for National Geographic among other places. Jules' husband of 7 years.

JULES (Late 30s), a former actor turned luxury real estate agent. Martin's wife of 7 years.

RAFE (40), a Hollywood A-list action star, genuinely dashing. Jules' oldest childhood friend. He and Claudia have been engaged for 5 years.

CLAUDIA (Late 40s), sexy divorcee with gobs of money. Engaged to Rafe for 5 years.

THE PROCESS:
This is a PAID opportunity. All actors will receive a stipend of $300 for their time.
We are expecting to have 3-4 rehearsals (between 2-3 hours each) plus one 75-minute tech.
Rehearsals will take place in late September/early October and will depend on actor's availability.
Tech will be close to our showtime on October 10th and will be scheduled by the theatre.

Actors must be available for both tech and show time.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
Please submit a self-tape (link to YouTube or Vimeo) using the sides provided in the Google Form! In your tape, please slate your name and the character you are reading for. Actors may submit more than 1 character, but please combine readings into one video (separated by different slates).

Submissions are due by August 9th at 11:59pm
