SEEKING:
Non-Union dancers for roles in Southern Appalachian Dance Collective’s 2026-2027 Season (see breakdown) and resident company positions. At SADC, we believe in cultivating a space where artists can continue to grow, contribute meaningfully, and explore their craft beyond traditional timelines or expectations. We welcome dancers of all backgrounds, identities, ages, and ethnicities to audition.
CONTRACT:
Resident Company Members: Stipend per show (Varies depending on role and rehearsal schedule. Est. $500-2,000), relocation assistance.
Job-In Artists: Stipend, housing, travel reimbursement.
Trainees: Open to dancers ages 14-18, must be local.
BREAK DOWN: Performance dates and times are posted in description. Most productions rehearse 6-4 weeks before. Job-In artists are sent choreography videos, and are scheduled to work in the studio 1-2 weeks before.

The Sugar Plum Cavalier-20s/30s, male-identifying, 5’ 11” or taller. Seeking dancers with strong classical and partnering backgrounds.
Russian Candy- 20s/30s, male & female-identifying. Seeking high-energy, technically strong dancers to perform the role of Russian. This featured divertissement requires explosive athleticism, sharp musicality, powerful jumps, fast footwork, and strong stamina.

Amy March- 20s to play 12-22 y.o., female identifying, 5’0”-5’3”. The youngest March sister, Amy, is determined to make her mark on the world. This role requires strong classical technique and the ability to portray both playful innocence and refined elegance. Partnering experience required.
Professor Bhaer- 20s/30s, male-identifying, 5’ 10” or taller. Seeking a mature, expressive male-presenting dancer/actor to portray Professor Bhaer in Little Women: The Ballet. This featured narrative role requires strong partnering skills, emotional nuance, and grounded theatrical presence. Strong contemporary and ballet technique preferred, with an emphasis on storytelling, musicality, and authentic connection in partnering sequences.
Theodore “Laurie” Lawrence- 20s, male-identifying, 5’ 10” or taller. Seeking a charismatic, emotionally expressive male-presenting dancer. This central role requires strong ballet technique, partnering experience, and exceptional storytelling ability. Laurie is charming, impulsive, playful, and deeply sensitive, serving as both Jo’s closest companion and a young man searching for belonging and purpose. Performers should excel in dynamic partnering work, musicality, and character-driven movement.
Storytellers- 20s/30s, male & female-identifying. Strong contemporary/neo-classical ballet dancers to portray various ensemble roles throughout the story.
ALICE IN WONDERLAND

Jack/Knave of Hearts- 20s, male-identifying, 5’ 10” or taller. Performers should be comfortable with fast-paced storytelling, expressive character work, and physically demanding choreography ranging from whimsical ensemble moments to grounded pas de deux. Seeking dancers with strong classical and partnering backgrounds.
The Duchess- 20s/30s, female-identifying. This featured character role calls for strong comedic timing and a commanding stage presence. The Duchess is eccentric, unpredictable, and delightfully chaotic, bringing humor and absurdity to Wonderland while maintaining an undercurrent of authority and theatrical flair. Dancer must have pointe experience.
The Cook- 20s/30s, female-identifying. Performers should be comfortable with fast-paced choreography and larger-than-life physicality. Seeking a highly physical, comedic performer. Dancer must have pointe experience.
The Caterpillar- 20s/30s, male or female-identifying. A mysterious presence who guides Alice with quiet wisdom and a touch of mischief. Requires fluid movement quality. Strong contemporary/neo-classical experience required.
The March Hare- 20s, male & female-identifying. This featured character role requires strong theatricality, sharp comedic timing, and advanced tap dance experience. The March Hare is a frantic, mischievous, and endlessly entertaining character, bringing high-speed energy and controlled chaos to the Mad Tea Party scene.
The Doormouse- 20s, male & female-identifying. This featured character role requires strong theatrical instincts, expressive movement quality, and tap dance experience. The Dormouse brings quirky charm and offbeat humor to the Mad Tea Party scene, balancing sleepiness with bursts of unexpected energy and precision.
