Equity chorus singers for roles in PURPLE RAIN (see breakdown).

All Stage Managerial positions are currently filled.


PREPARATION

Please prepare 32 bars of a rock song of your choice in the style of Prince that shows off your voice. If you play instruments, please be prepared to tell us about it. We will have an accompanist in the room, but you are welcome to accompany yourself. Please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

All ethnicities and genders. Highly skilled vocalists who are able to sing across various styles and have strong skills with harmonies. Playing piano, drums, and/or guitar is a plus. Strong movers with stage presence.


Ensemble tracks may cover the following principal roles –

THE KID - 18+ but reads 18-25. Black. A musical genius. The center of our story. Front man of his band. Charming, funny, with the soul of an artist. Magnetic. He’s a star. A highly skilled guitarist, pianist and singer. Extremely skilled on guitar and piano and has a vocal range that includes tenor and baritone, and is comfortable singing in falsetto. Prince originated this role. Seeking Understudies.

APOLLONIA -18+ but reads 18-25. She/her. Open ethnicity. Has dreams of being a star. An impressive talent with an infectious energy. You can’t take your eyes off of her. Adventurous. Trusting and gets her heart stamped on a bit. A thrilling singer and skilled with harmonies, vocal range spans alto to a soulful pop soprano belt. Plays beginner/intermediate piano. A very strong mover. Seeking Understudies.

BOBBY- 20s-30s. He/him. Open ethnicity. Plays drums in the rock band. Just wants to play the good music and skip the drama. A HIGHLY SKILLED DRUMMER. Able to sing and skilled with harmonies. NOTE: All voice parts welcome. Seeking Understudies.

WENDY - 20s-30s. She/her. Open ethnicity. Plays guitar in the rock band. She’s a rockstar. A HIGHLY SKILLED ELECTRIC GUITARIST. Able to sing and is skilled with harmonies. NOTE: All voice parts welcome. Seeking Understudies.

FATHER - 50s. He/him. Black. The Kid’s dad. A haunted man. He’s struggling and trying to forge a new and better relationship with The Kid. NOTE: Piano playing a plus. Seeking Understudies.

MORRIS - 20s-30s. Black. He/him. Rival of The Kid. Front man in his band The Time. Always outrageous, occasionally funny. Manages to always find himself an audience who will laugh. Funny. Able to sing and is skilled with harmonies. A strong mover. NOTE: All voice parts welcome. Seeking Understudies.

BILLY - late 40s-50s. Black. He/him. Owner of the music club, The First. A big personality and serves as the Emcee of the club. Tries to foster positive relationships between the young musicians at his club. Sympathetic to their artistic journeys but ultimately must focus on money and attracting customers. Able to sing and skilled with harmonies. Seeking Understudies.
