Seeking cast for premiere of The Man Who Could Imitate a Bee, a 10 Minute Musical by Jason Curtis Rivera, for the Spark Theatre Festival.
This is an unpaid opportunity with right of first refusal on future productions.
Description:
The musical follows Hervey Deyo, a gifted ornithologist, and his attempts to become more popular, and the unfortunate by-products that comes with that reputation. It explores the ramifications of infamy, the value of staying true to yourself, and lists a TON of animals.
Audition Requirements:
Short contemporary monologue and 16-32 bar cut of a contemporary musical theatre song. IF you dont have anything taped that fits this just send what you have. No need to tape anything new!
Production Info:
Performances are scheduled for November 13 & 14 @ 7pm and November 15 @ 5pm. Rehearsals will be scheduled around cast availability.
Character Descriptions:
Hervey Deyo - Male presenting, extremely confident in himself, a great ornithologist. A strong singer. Rap ability a plus.
Mina Low - Female presenting, loves teas and outings. Strong harmony singer.
Ned Mullett (Partygoer 1, Ornithologist 1) - Male presenting, a slightly dim but charming man, can imitate a seal. Strong singer.
Armbuster (Partygoer 2, Ornithologist 2) - Male presenting, a great scientist with a love for bees.
The Bee (Partygoer 3, Scientist) - Any Gender, a bee with no lines. Great dancer. Has an extended soft shoe dance solo.
Professor Schweeble/ Doctor - Any Gender, older, the professor has an unplaceable accent, the doctor is extremely paternal/maternal.

This is very short show with a very short rehearsal period. We will work around your schedule with rehearsals.
