Synopsis: After decades as the gentle-natured leader of a Christian retreat that endeavors to “cure” gay teens, Walt is packing up his life and preparing for a reluctant retirement. But when his final client quietly disappears into the remote Idaho wilderness, Walt discovers that his previously unwavering moral compass no longer points the way.

Seeking:

Walt (Male/Mid-70’s) - Has spent decades running a remote wilderness camp in Idaho dedicated to conversion therapy. As he prepares to transition into assisted living, he finds himself grappling with his own past, his fading memory, and the complex legacy of the mission he co-founded.

Note: While the character is stated at mid-70’s, we are willing to accept actors in the mid 60’s range.

Daniel (Male/16) - Has been sent to a wilderness camp by his parents to undergo conversion therapy. He is a sensitive and nervous teenager who enjoys gardening. He is in the process of finding himself and wants nothing more than a sense of safety.

Note: All actors submitting for Daniel must be 18 or older.

Abby (Female/Mid to Late 60’s) - Co-founded the wilderness camp and is now focused on the practical realities of transitioning her ex-husband, Walt, into assisted living. Though she remains deeply connected to the mission, she is haunted by the tragic loss of her own son, Isaac, and firmly believes that the struggle for change is necessary to avoid ultimate spiritual and personal damnation.

Tim (Male/Mid to Late 60’s) - Spent many years working alongside Walt at the wilderness camp. A loyal friend and husband to Abby, he remains deeply committed to their mission, even as the world around them changes and the future of their program becomes uncertain.

Eunice (Female/40’s or Early 50’s) - Deeply conflicted as she grapples with her teenage son's sexuality and her husband's rigid religious expectations. While she initially seeks a "cure" for her son, she eventually faces a heartbreaking realization that the struggle to change him may be more damaging than acceptance.

Janet (Female/Late 40’s or Early 50’s) - A dedicated park ranger who has patrolled the Idaho wilderness for many years. Calm and practical in a crisis, she is a straight-talker who balances authority with a deep-seated care for the people in her community.

Salary:

$120 Stipend
