What Is Burlesque the Musical About?

Burlesque the Musical is based on the Golden Globe-nominated 2010 film starring Christina Aguilera and Cher. Written by Steven Antin with additional material by Kate Wetherhead, the stage version moves the story from Los Angeles to New York City, giving the plot a grittier edge and a deeper emotional core.

The story follows Ali, a young woman who leaves her small town and heads to New York in search of the mother she never knew. She stumbles into a dazzling underground club alive with music, movement and mystery, and is drawn into an intoxicating world where she begins to uncover her extraordinary voice. Along the way, she finds an unexpected family of dreamers, misfits and schemers who will change her life forever.

Burlesque the Musical at The Arts at Marble Arch

After a completely sold-out, critically acclaimed run at the Savoy Theatre in summer 2025, Burlesque returns to London at The Arts at Marble Arch for a strictly limited season from 12 September 2026 to 31 January 2027.
