About this show

My Son’s A Queer (But What Can You Do?) Tickets

My Son’s A Queer (But What Can You Do?) is a feel-good, one-person autobiographical musical comedy at the Apollo Theatre in London’s West End, written and performed by Rob Madge. The show recreates Rob’s childhood attempt to stage a full Disney parade inside the family home for their Grandma, with Dad on sound and floats, Mum in the audience, and costumes that did not quite hold together. This time the same parade gets a proper West End stage behind it, and tickadoo has tickets so you can be there for the chaos.

Rob Madge is a West End musical theatre performer whose social media following brought the show to wide attention before it reached the stage. The production won Best Off-West End Production at the WhatsOnStage Awards 2022 before transferring to the Apollo Theatre. The running time is one hour and five minutes, with no interval.

What to expect

The show blends live performance, storytelling and musical theatre into a single-performer format that is as touching as it is funny. Rob plays a string of characters from the Disney repertoire, including Mary Poppins, Ariel, Mickey Mouse, Belle and Aladdin, switching between them with quick costume changes and sharp comic timing. The autobiographical thread runs alongside the parade sequences, weaving in home video footage and family memories to frame a warm coming-of-age story. Performance dates vary, so check the booking page for the latest schedule when you book.
