Shot on a shoestring budget, this 2006 Irish musical film captured the hearts of movie-goers not only with its sweet and authentic plot, but also with its awesome songs, performed by The Frames frontman Glen Hansard and young Czech musician Marketa Irglova, who later banded together as The Swell Season.

The soundtrack was nominated for a Grammy, and the lead ballad "Falling Slowly" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
