The Production
The first-ever theatre adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ internationally acclaimed book and Lionsgate’s motion-picture, The Hunger Games: On Stage opened at Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre in Autumn 2025, adapted by multi award-winning playwright Conor McPherson and directed by Matthew Dunster.
Job Description
We are seeking WHAM Dressers with experience on large scale productions. As a WHAM Dresser, you will be responsible for setting wigs ready for the performance, assisting cast members with wigs changes backstage and maintaining and repairing wigs. The Designer's original specification and look of the production must be maintained.
● The ability to work under minimum supervision and be adaptable in accordance with performance requirements.
● The ability to work as part of a large team.
● The ability to build respectful rapport with actors and work with other theatre staff.
● Good communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
● To play a key role in the smooth running of the Wigs, Hair and Makeup department on a complex show.
● Assist the actors in performances with their wigs, including quick changes.
● Attend technical, dress and costume understudy rehearsals to observe and learn tracks and to be available to the actor(s) as allocated on or off stage as appropriate.
● Deal with emergency repairs.
● Identify where maintenance work needs to be carried out and return it to WHAM with a note of maintenance requirements.
● Help actors remove wigs at the end of performances
● Ensure that work materials, wigs and dressing rooms are kept in a tidy, secure manner.
● To ensure all wigs are cleaned and dressed daily and in working order for each performance.
● To undertake plots where necessary.
● Report losses and unsafe practices.
● Comply with health and safety and other policies.
Essential Criteria
● Experience in a Wigs, Hair and Make-Up department on a large-scale and long running show.
● Experience washing and maintaining wigs to a specified standard.
● The ability to adapt work in accordance with performance requirements.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● The ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
