We are seeking an experienced Sound No 2 to join the production on its UK Tour.

Start Date: September 2026

Contract Length: 18 Months

Salary: Buyout/ Competitive

Duties and Responsibilities

(including but not limited to):

  • Under the supervision of the Head of Department, maintain the production as instructed by the creative team, in line with the artistic requirements and direction of the production;
  • The Sound No. 2 will regularly mix the show and assist the Head of Department in overseeing maintenance of the sound system and microphones. They will support the department during get-ins and system installation at each venue, and assist with get-outs following the final performance;
  • Work alongside your team, other technical departments, stage management, the acting company, and resident creative team members to ensure the efficient flow of information necessary for the smooth running of the show;
  • Attend rehearsals, show calls, maintenance calls, get-ins, and get-outs as required by the Head of Department or Company Manager, including emergency calls in the event of equipment failure or other incidents, particularly where there is a risk of performance cancellation;
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of all departmental equipment, including pre-show checks as requested by the Head of Department;
  • Develop familiarity with all plots and tracks within the department to provide cover during holidays or absences;
  • Maintain awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and make any necessary adjustments;
  • Assist the Head of Department in compiling and updating cue sheets and other relevant show paperwork (both digital and hard copy), ensuring accuracy for potential remounting;
  • Comply at all times with venue rules and regulations;
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of the Producer’s employment policies;
  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably required, as instructed by the Head of Sound, Company Manager, Production Manager, General Management, or Producer.

Person Specification (Essential)

  • At least one year of working experience in the role,
  • Demonstrable ability to perform the duties listed above.
  • An organised yet flexible approach and calm under pressure.
  • Demonstrable ability to work as part of a team and to work under your own initiative.
  • Ability to be creative and resourceful in problem-solving.
  • Awareness and experience of health and safety legislation and practice.
