Lead Producer for New Emo/Pop-punk Jukebox Musical
Remote possible; New York/New Jersey connections welcome
Description:
The creative team behind Ocean Avenue is seeking an experienced Lead Producer or Producing Partner to help guide the project into its next stage of development.
Ocean Avenue is an original jukebox musical set in early-2000s emo and pop-punk scene. When Corey’s girlfriend and best friend leave his band to join a rival group just before the Stone Pony Battle of the Bands, Corey must rebuild his group, face the people who betrayed him, and figure out what success is really worth.
Drawing from the world of emo and pop-punk bands such as blink-182, Paramore, Yellowcard, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional, and Fall Out Boy, Ocean Avenue combines the energy of a live club show with the songs you remember wrapped around a story of friendship, heartbreak, and growing up.
The project currently has a completed script, pitch deck, one-sheet, trailer, proof-of-concept footage, and demo material. It has also received two developmental performances in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, each playing to a full-capacity audience of more than 200 people per perfomance.
The next goal is to develop a professional reading, workshop, or concert-style presentation and build a long-term producing strategy for regional theatre, festivals, and potential commercial development.
The producer’s responsibilities may include:
- Helping shape the development and production strategy
- Advising on workshops, readings, festivals, and regional-theatre opportunities
- Assisting with fundraising, budgeting, and potential investor outreach
- Helping identify venues, creative collaborators, and producing partners
- Advising on the appropriate licensing and permissions for future presentations
- Working with the writer and director to position the project for its next professional milestone
This is an opportunity for a producer who is passionate about new musical theatre, music-driven storytelling, and the continued revival of early-2000s emo and pop-punk culture. The project is not seeking someone to personally finance the entire production. Any future producing credit, compensation, expense reimbursement, or participation would be discussed and established through a written agreement.
Compensation:
We are currently in the developmental phase and would be looking for someone to begin the process of raising funds and take the project to the next stage.
To apply:
Please submit a résumé or producing biography, a brief statement of interest, examples of relevant theatre or musical-development work, and any questions about the project. Pitch materials and additional project information will be shared with qualified candidates.
