The Production

The first-ever theatre adaptation of Suzanne Collins internationally acclaimed book and Lionsgate’s motion-picture, The Hunger Games: On Stage opened at Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre in Autumn 2025, adapted by multi award-winning playwright Conor McPherson and directed by Matthew Dunster.

Job Description

As Head of Wigs, Hair and Make-Up, you will be responsible for overseeing the Wigs, Hair and Make-up department on a complex production.

This includes supervising the Wigs, Hair and Make-Up Deputy and assistants.

Key Responsibilities

● To take responsibility for running and maintenance of all Wigs, Hair and Make-Up requirements of a complex show.

● To manage the department including both personnel and facilities.

● To work closely and collaboratively with all other departments.

● To oversee and teach all plots involved in running the show.

● To undertake plots where necessary.

● To recruit, supervise and train others in the department.

● To work closely with the Wigs Hair and Make-up Designer/Supervisor to ensure the 2nd year company is set up in a way that can be maintained.

● To assist the actors in performances with dressing in their wigs including quick changes.

● To ensure all wigs are cleaned and dressed daily and in working order for each performance.

● To oversee and advise on cast makeup and hair styling as required.

● To attend rehearsal, technical, dress and costume understudy rehearsals as required.

● To deal with emergency repairs to wigs.

● Recognise where maintenance work needs to be carried out on a wig and undertake, or oversee, the maintenance..

Essential Criteria

● Proven extensive experience of setting up and managing Wigs, Hair and Makeup on a large scale complex production

● Experience washing and maintaining wigs to a specified standard.

● The ability to adapt work in accordance with performance requirements

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

● The ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently
