Position Description:

The New Victory Theater, a beautifully renovated 499-seat theater for kids and families in the heart of Times Square, has an exciting opportunity for a candidate with strong customer service and sales experience to join its team as Group Sales Manager. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Ticket Operations, the full-time position is charged with maintaining, creating and fostering relationships with prospective and current group clients, developing partnerships with outside vendors and neighborhood partners and most importantly managing, contracting and processing group sale ticket orders. Candidates should possess a strong sales drive and have excellent multi-tasking, communication and organizational skills.


Responsibilities:

The Group Sales Manager is a highly motivated team player who actively prospects for, solicits and sells group tickets of 15 or more. The ideal candidate must be committed to maintaining a superior level of customer service at all times and needs to be detail-oriented, customer-focused and results-driven. Candidate will work closely with Ticket Services and Marketing to identify and maximize group ticket sales opportunities and sales revenue. The Group Sales Manager will handle all group sales, and is charged with increasing audience attendance by initiating and cultivating relationships with new and returning groups.


In its primary function, this role leads group sale strategy and outreach to meet established sales goals for the season. Duties will include, but are not limited to:


  • Working with Sr Director of Ticket Operations and Director of Marketing to develop and execute strategies and an annual Sales Plan

  • Drive group sales growth by cultivating high‑value relationships with new and returning groups, community organizations, tourism partners, and neighborhood businesses to expand audiences and maximize revenue for New Victory productions.

  • Proactively identify, research, and pursue new group sales prospects across tourism, TYA, and community markets, developing targeted outreach strategies and promotional partnerships that convert leads and accelerate sales.

  • Manage group sales related expenses in budget

  • Scheduling, coordinating and monitoring post-show private Birthday Celebrations

  • Coordinating and processing all phases of group sales contracts: booking orders and securing deposits and final payments by due date for group tickets and birthday celebrations

  • Analyzing past season group buying trends

  • Generating weekly sales reports

  • Leading occasional group or VIP events and tours of the theater

  • Collaborating with Marketing/Comms to create direct mail, email and social media campaigns and other efforts to increase group ticket sales

  • Generating mailing lists from ticketing CRM (Tessitura)

  • Following up with group sale patrons to determine satisfaction

  • Purchasing supplies for goody bags and assembling them for distribution by box office

  • General phone sales as needed


Work Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Previous sales, administrative and customer service experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or 3-5 years relevant experience

  • Motivated, proactive and self-directed

  • At least 2 years previous box office experience

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Understanding of ticketing and general accounting practices

  • Ability to coordinate events with multiple departments

  • Must be able to work an occasional evening and/or a weekend, as needed

  • Knowledge of non profit theater a plus

  • Computer proficiency a must (Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail) – experience with computer ticketing software and knowledge of the Tessitura ticketing system a plus


Work schedule follows performance needs but customarily, Monday through Friday, 9:30am – 6pm.
