Breakdown

THE GRAND DELUSION

Project Description: A modern-day fairy tale, THE GRAND DELUSION is an original musical set in contemporary New York City, contemporary India, and a magical, mythical plane where the impossible can happen. At its heart is the quintessential love triangle. It tells the story of two best friends in New York City, Ben and Nanda, and their passionate erotic love for the same woman, Maya.

SEEKING:

ENSEMBLE: Extraordinary dancers and movement artists with a powerful sense of individuality, rhythm and theatrical presence - performers who are technically accomplished but also curious, fearless and open to experimentation. The work will be created through the meeting and collision of movement worlds, drawing from street and club cultures, Hip-Hop, Bollywood and South Asian influences, grounded African rhythms and contemporary physicality, without asking performers to master every form. We are interested in artists who bring something deeply their own - a movement history, a groove, a physical language, a way of inhabiting the stage - and who are willing to have that language challenged and transformed through collaboration. We are looking for performers who can bring their individuality fully into the choreographic process while remaining open, responsive and transformative within the evolving language of the work. Singing is a plus but not required.
