“Get in, loser — Mean Girls is coming to Dunellen!” The Actors Studio of New Jersey is thrilled to present the fiercely funny, pink-powered hit Mean Girls: The Musical at the historic Dunellen Theatre this fall! Performances run from September 11th through September 20th, with Friday and Saturday evening shows at 8:00 PM and Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM.

Based on the beloved film written by Tina Fey, Mean Girls tells the hilarious and heartfelt story of Cady Heron, a teenage girl raised in Africa who suddenly finds herself navigating the wilds of suburban high school life in Illinois. When she falls in with the Plastics — the school’s most exclusive clique led by the queen bee Regina George — Cady learns that popularity comes with a price. Packed with catchy songs, sharp humor, and plenty of pink, Mean Girls: The Musical is a brilliant blend of comedy, empowerment, and total fetch fun that will have audiences laughing, cheering, and maybe even checking their burn books.

PREPARATION
Please submit a headshot, résumé, and/or performance reel to [email protected] with the subject line: LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_MEANGIRLS. Vocal submissions should feature a pop/rock selection rather than traditional musical theatre, and you are welcome to sing material from the show. The submission deadline is Wednesday, July 22nd at 5:30 p.m., with virtual callbacks to follow. Rehearsals will begin on Sunday, August 9th 2026 in Dunellen, New Jersey.

Performances: Friday, September 11th at 8:00pm, Saturday, September 12th at 8:00pm, Sunday, September 13th at 2:00pm, Friday, September 18th at 8:00pm, Saturday, September 19th at 8:00pm and Sunday, September 20th at 2:00pm.

All rehearsals and performances will take place in Dunellen, NJ. Local housing is not available for this production. The Actors Studio of New Jersey is seeking local performers with transportation for this production

SEEKING
Cady Heron: Arrives at North Shore High a clueless transfer student but is quickly wrapped up in brutal social politics. Though at her core Cady is levelheaded, self-assured, and kind, when she goes undercover with the Plastics, she becomes unrecognizable.

Regina George: The undisputed Queen Bee of North Shore High School, and she knows it. She’s confident, clever, and completely unbothered by anyone else’s opinion. While Regina purposefully manipulates everyone around her (including her own mom), at her heart she’s trying to fit in, just like everyone else.

Gretchen Wieners: Regina’s stressed-out second-in-command. As much as Regina appears not to care what people think, Gretchen cares very much, and she’s especially paranoid when it comes to Regina. She takes the Plastics very seriously and is completely controlled by Regina, until Cady comes along.

Karen Smith: The third member of the Plastics. While Karen’s lack of intelligence is a running joke throughout the show, she sees the other girls more clearly than most people and is the most laid back of the three.

Damian: Co-chair of the Student Activities Committee and Janis’s best friend. Damian is smart, witty, and confident and occasionally serves as the show’s narrator.

Janis Sarkisian: Marches to the beat of her own drum and, with Damian, narrates throughout the show. After a falling-out with Regina in middle school, she became a bit of a social outcast and still holds a grudge against Regina. Damian is her best friend and lovingly refers to her as his “art freak.”

Aaron Samuels: A nice guy who has no idea that he’s the high school heartthrob. Although he doesn’t enjoy the drama of high school social politics, he gets used as a pawn between Cady and Regina, though he genuinely likes Cady.

Ms. Norbury/Mrs. Heron/Mrs. George: Cady’s homeroom and calculus teacher, and she oversees the Mathletes. Though she is a bit jaded and more than a little sarcastic, Ms. Norbury sees the real Cady and encourages her to be true to herself.

Mr. Duvall/Mr. Heron: The school principal. Like Ms. Norbury, he’s seen it all, although he’s slightly more formal and sincere than Ms. Norbury’s sarcasm.

Kevin G: Captain of the Mathletes! He’s confident and excited about competing with the team, and he’s proud of their accomplishments.

Ensemble: Party guests, the Debate Team, Dance Team, Show Choir, Mathletes, and students.
