The March Family:

Josephine “Jo” March: CAST. Seeking potential Understudy. (age 18-23) The fiercely independent, ambitious protagonist and aspiring writer. Our story's protagonist. Passionate, adventurous, and brave. She has the idea of writing Little Women and eventually becomes engaged to Professor Bhaer. (Vocal range: Alto / Mezzo-Soprano. Vocal range top: A5 - Vocal range bottom: E3)

Meg March: (age 21-25) The world-weary, yet hopeful, oldest sister who yearns for a great life. She marries John and has twins with him. Doubles as Clarissa. (Vocal range: Mezzo-Soprano / Soprano. Vocal range top: Gb5 - Vocal range bottom: A#3)

Elizabeth “Beth” March: (age 17-21) The timid, gentle, and musically gifted sister. The second youngest sister who tragically dies of Scarlet Fever. Peace-maker, lover, and an optimist who is always encouraging her sisters to dream. Doubles as Rodrigo II. (Vocal range: Soprano / Mezzo-Soprano. Vocal range top: G5 - Vocal range bottom: A3)

Amy March: (age 14-18): The youngest, most energetic sister with a rather pompous air about her. She later marries Laurie. Doubles as Hag. (Vocal range: Soprano. Vocal range top: Gb5 - Vocal range bottom: Cb4)

Marmee March: (age 45-55) The devoted mother and moral anchor of the family. She is the strong backbone of the family, who is courageous in spite of the difficult odds she faces. Doubles as Troll. (Vocal range: Contralto / Mezzo-Soprano. Vocal range top: Eb5 - Vocal range bottom: Eb3)

Suitors & Friends:

Laurie Laurence: (age 18-23) The bright-eyed boy-next-door with considerable charm. He loves Jo but later falls in love with Amy. Doubles as Rodrigo. (Vocal range: Tenor. Vocal range top: Bb2 - Vocal range bottom: Bb4)

Professor Bhaer: (age 35-45) German Professor who exemplifies proper manners. He is a boarder in Mrs. Kirk's boarding house and eventually falls in love with Jo. The character has a slight German accent. (Vocal range top: F#4 - Vocal range bottom: G2)

John Brooke: (age 30-40) Laurie’s tutor and a dedicated suitor to Meg. A rather stiff man; shows very little emotion. He later marries Meg and changes. Doubles as Braxton. (Vocal range: Tenor. Vocal range top: F#4 - Vocal range bottom: C#3)

Extended Family:

Aunt March: (age 45-60) A formidable, over-bearing matron and great-aunt to the March sisters. The wealthy socialite in town. Doubles as Mrs. Kirk. (Vocal range: Alto / Soprano. Vocal range top: F5 - Vocal range bottom: E3)

Mr. Laurence: (age 50-60) Laurie’s wealthy, initially stern grandfather who softens over time. Doubles as the Knight. (Vocal range: Baritone. Vocal range top: D4 - Vocal range bottom: D3)
