Seeking Non-Union NYC locals to submit for the NYC premiere of PLEASE BABY, PLEASE by Sara Wiser and Danielle Cohen.
This is an unpaid opportunity. Housing is not provided. Possible extension to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2027.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PLAY:
In this dark comedy, a cam girl attempts to reconnect with her estranged and neglectful mother at a family party, only to realize that her mother’s new boyfriend is actually her main client. PLEASE BABY, PLEASE is a raucous and deliciously drama-filled new work exploring mother/daughter relationships, sexual expression in the digital age, and how sex work has adapted to the cyber sphere.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
Please record yourself performing a contemporary comedic monologue from a play no more than 2 minutes in length. Submit via the audition form linked below.
PRODUCTION INFORMATION:
Scheduled performances are Friday, December 11th @8pm and Saturday, December 12th @8pm at THE RAT NYC with a possible extension the next weekend and to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2027.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS - Seeking actors who are of age or to convincingly play the ages listed.
SASHA - Female, Early 20s. Cam girl. Incredibly passionate and sometimes a bit too impulsive. Self-proclaimed misandrist who desperately seeks validation. Beautiful, violent, vulgar. "A girl is a gun."
MIRANDA - Female, 30s -- 40s. Sasha’s mother. Her dream is to be on The Real Housewives of New York. Was definitely a victim of an MLM scheme at some point.
JOSH - Male, 40s -- 50s. Attractive, suave, and persuasive Conservative politician. Has a porn addiction. Think Mr. Big in season 1 of Sex and the City.
NORA - Female, 50s – 60s. A diva if there ever was one! Bubbie to Sasha and Paul, Mother to Miranda and Claire. She is the stereotypical Bubbie/Yente who is all up in your business and a bit off her rocker but we love her anyways.
PAUL - Male (to be played by an adult Female or AFAB actor), 12. Absolute menace to society. Was an iPad baby and is now headed down the red-pilled pipeline. Would sing "We Are Charlie Kirk" unironically.
CLAIRE - Female, 30s. Paul's mother, Miranda's sister. Thinks all ailments can be cured with the power of granola and yoga. Probably rock climbs and refuses to vaccinate her children.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
This play is about sex work and features simulated sex acts performed on stage. We will have an intimacy coordinator present.
